Role purpose:


Responsible for all aspects of Virtualisation (VMware and Container Platforms) supporting a hybrid/multi-cloud operating model
Design, plan, manage, support, operate and oversee the organisation’s private cloud platforms
Assist with managing, automating, maintaining, monitoring and securing of all private cloud platforms
In addition, the candidate in this role is responsible for providing technical virtualisation expertise to team members and other technical/business areas.

Your responsibilities will include:


Managing the daily operations of our private cloud platforms, which may include patching, security updates, and vulnerabilities remediation
Developing / enhancing automation that enables management of our private cloud environment in an automated manner
Provide operational support to application teams consuming the platform services
Implement processes, standards, and governance of these platforms.
Implement and maintain RedHat Ansible for OpenShift configuration management.
Incorporate group security controls and policy requirements into overall system design.
Maintains strong relations with relevant stakeholders which include Architects, Solution Designers, project and operations teams and vendors
Seeks opportunities to learn, automate, document, share, educate, and improve processes where appropriate

The ideal candidate for this role will have:


Technical / professional qualifications:

Grade 12 is essential
3-year Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent qualification is preferable

At least 3 -5 years relevant work experience including the following:
Working experience with virtualisation platforms such as OpenShift (required) and VMWare (required)
Experience with configuration management and automation tools such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt, Terraform, etc desirable



Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
Automation-first mentality
Knowledge of software development methodologies e.g. AGILE
Strong time-management skills, with the ability multi-task
Ability to work to deadlines and manage team and business expectations
Excellent analytical, technical, and problem solving skills, with high-levels of creativity
Experience in Redhat OpenShift and VMWare, as well as other virtualization platforms preferred
Automation Experience (Ansible, Terraform)
Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and Ansible preferred, CloudFormation, Chef)
Strong creativity, analysis, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions
Experience of current and emerging virtualization, infrastructure, and cloud and containers technologies and architectures, such as Windows, Linux/UI, AWS, Openstack, Docker, K8S etc.
Experience working with programming and scripting languages, such as Python
